Bridal Party Gifts

Can someone tell me if this is a good idea? I have five total bridesmaids (one MOH & one Matron). What I wanted to do was get each bridesmaid a tote bag with their name embroidered on the side. In the bag would be a bottle of their favorite choice wine/liquor, some form of a baked good (cupcakes, whoopie pies), and possibly a flask. Is that too much, not enough, or too "childish"?

  • I think it would all depend on what your BM's personalitys were like and what they personally liked themselves. I personally, would not like a flask, but that's me. I know some do like them, so it could work.

Def try to keep things personalized (which it sounds like you're doing). I might throw in their favorite movie or music. . I personally think that'd go good with my favorite bottle of wine / snack.

  • Would they really use the flask? Personally, I wouldn't. But, I don't know what your group of girls are like. Perhaps, buy them something small that you would get them if it were their birthday and put it in the bag. Or just get them one gift, something that reflects their personal interests and hobbies.

  • I'm not a fan of the flasks either, it was just an idea I was tossing around. I would do the favorite movie/music, however we are doing a movie themed wedding and each table is a specific movie with a corresponding soundtrack, so that idea is kind of out. Thanks for everyone's input! I'll see if I can come up with some items to put in the bag that are more personal.

i just want to talk about wicked whoopies. my FI grew up down the street from the shop in farmingdale and i think they're our favors. yay maine desserts!

  • Whoopie pies are amazing! They are a huge bonus for living in Maine. I think I've probably tried just about every single flavor Isamax has. So far I'm tied with strawberry and peanut butter. Get it over with and combine them already!

  • Do your girls actually like tote bags with their names on them? A lot of people don't.

[QUOTE]Whatever you get.....please don't personalize it. As someone says, lots of people dislike having their names or initials on their things. Monogrammed items are an instant white elephant unless you can find someone with your initials.

I agree with this. What I mean't by keep it personalized was to not get the same gift for every girl. Get someone that is unique for each individual and something they would like personally. I wanted to correct myself because I can see where it might look like I had agreed with initialing / monogramming things.

Also, fyi, things for the wedding (jewelry. .etc) aren't 'gifts'

  • I had no intention of buying them "things for the wedding" and calling that their gift. That's just wrong in my opinion. I'm just trying to come up with some ideas to show how much I appreciate them. Thanks for all the input!

[QUOTE]I got my girls the same thing. I'm a consultant for thirty-one Gifts, so I gave my girls each a tote bag with just their initial and filled it with flip flops, a little mini make up pouch with their initial on it and their jewelry. They loved it. If you never heard of thirty-one before, visit my website at ************* and let me know if you need anything. I'll definitely give you credit towards some bags. I don't mind losing my commission to help a local bride. Believe me I know how much my wedding cost, email me at t*********** if you need anything. Good luck!

Yeah, that's called advertising and can get you banned. Good job there.
