Old wedding photos

Has anyone ever seen this done at a wedding?  I'm  going to have photos of mine and his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents all from their wedding day. I wanted to have some kind of a caption to explain the photos.  I'd seen this done on an episode of 4 weddings but I can't find the episode to see what caption she used.  Any ideas? thanks!

Re: Old wedding photos

  • My friend did this at their wedding.  They had wedding day photos from their parents and grandparents and I think even great grandparents.  Each photo was in their own frame.  Attached to each frame there was a sign stating the couples names and wedding dates.  They put the pictures around the cake.

  • I saw this done once when I was venue shopping and thought it was really sweet.  I'm just doing both our parents and all 4 grandparents.  I'm putting them out on the gift table (which is usually pretty empty other than the cardbox where I'm from).  I was going to get antiquey looking frames to display them.  I actually wasn't going to put the names or dates down.  But most of the grandparents have all past away already (only 2 out of the 8 are still alive) and I think most people will figure out that they're family photos.
  • Yes I saw this once at FI's cousin's wedding. She had pictures of her sisters, aunts, uncles and grandparents on their wedding day in frames around the cake. They didn't put any signs or labels, but family members knew who was who.

  • We are doing this.  I haven't gotten to the labeling part yet.  My sister also did this as well as several cousins.  Some put labels on the frames while others put place cards in front.  I have requested copies of the photos.  My sister used to originals, but I thought copies would be safer.  Even if they are not lost, it turns out not too many family members have these particular photos, so it would be nice to have a few copies anyway.

  • Martha Stewart had something like this in her magazine from last summer. She had all the photos tinted blue so they would match - really cute!
  • We are doing this. So far I have my maternal grandparents photos, paternal grandmother's bridal portrait, my mother's bridal portrait, FIL's photo, and FI's paternal grandparents & great grandparents.

I am also trying to get photos of other family members; FI's sister, various aunts and uncles. I've made some requests and left it up to those family members to decide if they want to share their pictures. If not, I have our parents and grandparents to display.

I wasn't thinking to label them at all, just display them in different frames. There is a place in the ceremony room to display them together.

  • We're doing this - great grandparents, grandparents, parents, aunts/unlces, cousins...So it'll span from the early 1900's to the present.  We're going to put them at the welcome table with our guest book I think!
