Ever since she got divorced, my mom has been pretty much a man hater...for the most part. It's rubbed off on my 2 little sisters as well. Anyway, she liked my boyfriend at first when I started dating him 4 years ago. However, once my boyfriend started bringing up marriage (a couple of years ago), she has decided that she doesn't like him anymore.
Now we are engaged, and it seems like she is doing everything to stop it. At first she's like, "I called grandma and a couple of your aunts because we will need help!", but that lasted about a second. No, I'm not upset that she's not helping...I like doing most things myself. The problem is, she keeps giving me snide remarks. I feel like I have to hide my planning and DIY because whenever she sees me doing this stuff, she just has to say stuff and I'm sick of it. Just tonight I got a wedding invite from his old gf who cheated on him (we used to talk and text at school) and my mom said, "she cheated on him...right. I'm sure that's what FI told you."
The other day we were actually talking about a girl I work with who keeps going back to her bf because he's "hot", even though he cheated on her. I was saying that she's rediculous for doing that and that I wouldn't put up with cheating...so then a couple of days later, my mom decides to say "I have a feeling he's going to cheat on you."
I wish she would just accept it and that she and my sisters would be happy for me for once instead of picking me and every decision (wedding related and not) apart.
Has anyone had similar experiences? I'm feeling quite irritated.
