annoyed

My husband's birthday is Feb 6. . . . we will be on vacation in Hawaii.  Since it's his big 30 I wanted to do something special for him before we left.  Last night I invited a bunch of his friends to meet up with us at a bar for drinks on Saturday, Feb 2.  It looks like we could have 15-25 people in the group.   We leave in a very seasonal location, everything is pretty dead in the winter.

As a courtesy, I went to the bar/restaurant where we'll be on the 2nd to give them a heads up.  Since most restaurants have limited staff working this time of year, a group of 20 people at once could be a problem if not anticipated.  I thought I would be nice and alert them to my plans.  I spoke to the manager and advised her that it was a suprise. . . . we frequent the location so much of the staff knows me and my husband.  She seemed appreciative that I left them know, and that she'd put it in the computer for scheduling purposes.

Fast forward to this morning......my sweet husband was checking his emails. He got an email from the restaurant confirming his reservation for next Saturday night for 20 people.  He usually calls for reservations when we go there, so they must just have his email in their system. Totally ruined the surprise. I am really upset, because I wanted to do something special for him!!!

  • Oh,no!  That's a bummer, but just try to focus on having a good time even though the surprise got ruined!  Maybe if you talk to the manager about it, she will give you a free bottle of wine or something.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Im sure even reading the email he was suprised. He still sees the effort you made to organize for him. Theres nothing you can do now, just enjoy the wonderful evening you had planned.
Never hurts to try and get a free bottle or drinks for the bithday guy.

  • Oh that's such a bummer.  I agree on trying to get something for free.  They probably will feel bad for ruining the surprise.
