I should have been a wedding planner. I have run into so much disorganization that it's not even remotely humorous.
Our wedding is in August of this year. We've been planning since January 2010 since the area in which we're getting married books VERY quickly including surrounding vendors.
I have a three-ring binder I created to keep track of important information, contracts, copies of certified checks, etc.
In July, we had already met with our caterer, chose a menu he designed for us, signed a contract, and handed over a deposit. Earlier, in April, we had done the same with our venue.
Last week we met with our caterer who, by the way, had no idea who we were to the extent of "I don't believe we've met" being stated before a handshake. We had been swapping e-mails back and forth, etc. Then when we were discussing some things, he was asking "have you decided on your buffet?" Well...no...because we're having a plated dinner. "Have you decided on the decor you're going to rent?" Well...no...because we already purchased our decor. "What are we doing as far as colors?" You mean the colors you listed at the top of our contract? (these are items listed on his contract, that had been discussed previously and was even discussed THE WEEK PRIOR to seeing him again!!) Talk about a little worried.
On Sunday, we get a phone call from our venue's event coordinator, "I have a note here on my desk to call someone about hosting an event here with us..." Uh...you mean our wedding and reception? The one we have a contract and deposit for? Taking place in August? Yeah, a quick review of your notes, and you would have seen we already booked.
Do people even review notes before meeting with their clients?! A very quick look-over would have been a refresher for me.
So they may have been REALLY busy...they may have gotten kicked in the head by an angry mule, I don't know. *shrugs*
All I know is that if I was an events coordinator or wedding planner, I guess I'd be entirely TOO organized, but is that even possible?
(I thought I would vent here because, well, you guys are brides, etc. lol)
