stray cat help

Hi all! Yesterday when I was driving to work I found an injured kitty laying in the road and brought her to my vet. Long story short, she is thankfully okay. However, the vet says that she probably has a home because she is clean, healthy, and friendly. I posted signs in my neighborhood as well as ads on Craigslist, our community FB page, and the Houston ASPCA. Does anyone have any additional ideas for finding the owners? TIA :

Re: stray cat help

  • I would imagine that the vet checked to see if the cat was microchipped....otherwise, I think you've done just about all you can do.   It was great of you to pick the kitty up and take her to the vet -- someone is going to be very thankful that their kitty is okay.

  • Talk to your local pound/SPCA, which I see you've done.  All cat's/dog's here need to be licensed and either tattoed or microchipped.  They should be able to check if she's microchipped and find her owners that way.  The only other thing I could think of would be announcements at local schools or community halls/churches.

  • Ummmm.. congratulations on your new kitty?

  • That's great info; I hadn't thought that she might be dumped. Happy ending to the story... She is now living with a friend of mine who was looking for a kitty, yay! They seem to be getting along great. If the owners show up, they obviously can have her back, but I'm not optimistic about that, and she can get used to her probable new home in the meantime. I wanted to keep her, but H is not a cat person.
