People with kids! Help please!

I am making a felt board for an almost two year old, and I bought some felt pieces (animals, trains, et cetera) on amazon that are labelled for 3 years+.  Is there a safety issue I'm just not getting?  The pieces are all about the size of my palm, maybe a little bigger, so they don't seem like a choking hazard.  Does anybody know if these are too old for a two year old?

  • I typically bought things like this for my kids at that age. The pieces don't seem to be too small, based on your description, but an ambitious child might crumple them up and put them in their mouth if they thought hard enough about it. I'd continue with your plans, knowing that if the child's parents have any concerns about it, they'll just tuck it away for a few months, until the child is ready.

  • Okay.  I supervise her play constantly still (nothing like "you sit in the empty bathtub with a book while Allie goes potty") especially because her and the dog still have some issues.  Crumpling them up does sound like something she'd do though, so we'll have to make it a toy we get down to play with instead of something she has free access to.

Yeah I would do it like that cause my three year old still put things in his mouth. He kind of sees it as a challenge I think to see how much he can stick in his mouth including his food.
  • lol, Ashley.

I never had issues with either of my kids putting things in their mouths thankfully, but have seen lots who do.
