Spray Tan?

So, I do NOT tan, however wedding is in 35 days and my dress is open back and sleeveless.  I'm pretty pale and blonde so I was thinking of doing the whole spray tan thing to add a little color/even out skin tones.  Any tips/tricks to prevent the orange hue, or uneven coverage? I'm thinking of going this weekend to try it out before the day to make sure I don't look weird. hah

Im also blonde and have fair skin, but do tan in the summer; just try to stay out of the sun.  Ive been airbrushed before and wore a white bikini a few days after the application.  I didnt notice until I took off the top to change, that I saw the tanner had rubbed off onto the edges of the bikini top.  I would to a trial run, and wear a white tube top or something to see if it stains.

  • I agree with eseney, definatly do a trial run to see if it wears off. This will also let you see if you get the orangish hue and how bad.

  • If you are normally your natural color, why would you want to change for your wedding?  Wouldn't it be strange to look back at your photos and see someone that doesn't really look like you?

Also, if you chose the dress looking like your normal self, you probably chose a shade of white that looks best on your normal color.  If you change it, you might not like the results.

  • test it out first of course, but i do this all the time and feel i have almost perfected it.

~EXFOLIATE! i use a sugar scrub that i got from VS a while back... works just fine. Make sure you pay attention to dry areas, like back of hands, elbows, knees, and feet!

~dont wear ANYTHING on your skin the day of... No deoderant, soap, lotions.

~wear loose fitting clothes, NO SOCKS! your feet will sweat and give you streaks.

~dont use a loofah or any soaps or lotions with alchohol in them, it will dry your skin out and fade your tan quicker. i use an after tan lotion.

~VERSA AND MYSTIC are BS! spend a little extra to actually get airbrushed. you wont be orange and you will be even.

If you happen to do something that causes you to be streaky, make a baking soda and water paste and rub it in in those areas, it will even it out pretty good.

    GOOD LUCK!

  • you guys act like she is going to go from pasty white to oompa looompa. not true. you can customize your color to be whatever you want. IMO a littel color looks good on everyone and when you look back at your digital photos that were taken with top knotch cameras, you will notice a huge difference. :)

  • If you want to, I say go for it.

That being said I went to a wedding this summer and the bride's tan had rubbed all on her dress in the area like below where the armpit would be. I've never spray-tanned but that convinced me that I'd rather sun tan.

I did a spray tan for my wedding and loved it. I did a trial run beforehand though, and ended up loving the trial so I got it done for my shower/bachelorette weekend. You can tell them how light or dark you want to go. It did not look orange or streaky.

Definitely wear loose-fitting clothing to your appointment. They had me stand in front of fans for about 10 min. right after it to help it dry. It will rub off some on your clothes but it washes out (still I'd wear clothes you don't care about too much). And I'd try to go bra-less. It helps prevent any lines from it.

After you shower the next day, the color evens out even more, and is no longer sticky. I had absolutely no issue with it rubbing off on my dress (two days post-spray) and I was definitely sweating in 90º heat and humidity! It lasted for about 6 days for me (might've lasted longer but when we got to Hawaii we were in the water a lot so I think it came off faster). It is totally up to you, but if you want to do it, I highly recommend it if it's from a reputable place and you do a trial run way before your wedding (like at least a couple weeks).

ETA: I did not get my face done, as I have sensitive skin there, ,and the girl actually said she recommends not doing the face. it is easy to have your makeup artist (or you) match the foundation to your skin color. I also think it'd be hard to do the face with spray tan.
