Low Key, inexpensive wedding ideas for Long Island??

I am recently engaged and have a lot of ideas of what i would like to do for our wedding!  My Fiance and I are extremely tight in funds currently and our parents cannot help much either.  We want a very simple wedding, outdoors, very nature oriented.  We would love to have traditional tendencies with a modern and country twist.  I know its a wierd combo.  We would like to keep the budget very low, the guest list shouldnt be over 100.  I keep saying simple yet elegant.  We are thinking about July but keep contenplainting a winter wedding only because of the cost.  Any ideas for venues? Parks? Beaches?  im up for anything!  I still considering destination wedding too!!!  upstate NY, Maine, seriously anything!

  • You will want to post this on your local board rather than this international board.  They will have a better idea of the area.
  • Plus, aren't Long Island and inexpensive mutually exclusive terms?

In addition to your local board, you should also try the budget board - lots of good ideas on there.

  • I agree that you should post this on your local board.  That being said, we vacationed on Long Island last summer.  What about having it a winery?  I have no idea as to the cost but it would be outdoorsy.  A few had large permanent pavilions or you could do the whole white tent thing.

Just start calling around to get an idea on price per person, etc.

    Congrats on your engagement!
  • Congratulations on your engagement!

I just came across this post and thought I'd put my two cents in because I'm from Long Island too and in the same boat. Though I'm not getting married for another 2 years, we are thinking of holding the reception at the vineyards or even going to one of the state parks and holding it there. Parks are a pretty good alternative...I was looking at Christopher Morley Park or even the West Sayville Country Club. Message me!!! :D
