Colors!

Okay I know my wedding is a year and a half away so I have time but I seriously can not decide on my wedding colors. I change my mind like every week! And I really want to make a final decision soon because (though my parents are paying for most of the wedding FI and I are paying for most of the smaller details) there are some things that I am trying to order little by little so my paycheck doesn't take a huge hit all at once.

I'm going back and forth between black and pale pink with damask accents and a cobalt blue with green accents.
If we did black and pink the bridesmaids dresses would be black, flowers would be pale pink, all stationary type stuff would have damask print on it. Table linens will be black with damask table rounds in the center. Uplighting would be pink

Then, i havnt really thought as far into the blue color scheme other then bridesmaids dresses would be blue, flowers would be blue with green accents, table linens would be blue. Up lighting would be blue.

The ceremony will be outside in a garden under a huge oak tree and the reception will be inside in a ballroom with canopy ceilings with twinkling lights. Also, its a May wedding.

FI couldn't care less one way or the other lol

So, which do you think sounds best? I'm trying to get a unbiased opinion since I know my friends and family wouldn't really tell me if they actually hated my color scheme.

Thanks ladies!

Re: Colors!

  • Well..have you looked at the colors together?  Like in person with a color wheel?  I ask because a cousin of mine had an idea of wedding colors and when she went to the bridal shoppe saw the colors together and...they were HORRIBLE!  She felt like an idiot for choosing her colors and tellling everyone the colors and then had to explain why the change.

I myself like the Cobalt blue idea...but I have a bit of a bias as it is my wedding color scheme too.

Black and pink are really pretty also but it makes me think of the Mary Kay brand.

    Good luck!

I was engaged for roughly 16 months before I actually finalized my colors (Roughly 5 months before the wedding). In that time span, I literally went through 12 different color schemes and my final choices were pretty much nothing I originally picked out.

Definitely give it some more time before making a decision that you're "stuck" with. You most likely will change your mind a few more times.

  • I changed my colors about 10 different times.  Don't worry about it.  Just kind of go with the flow.

Also, look at inspiration boards.  They helped me out a ton!

This.  If you are worried about your paycheck taking a hit then save little by little rather than spend little by little.  We were only engaged 6 months and at the end there were things I wanted to change but it was too late because I had bought them months before.  Set up a savings account with that money strictly for your wedding expenses.  Keep a notebook with all of your ideas in it.  Go to stores and hold up different fabrics, colors, ideas together.  You have time before you need to make any concrete decisions.

    This.
Just open a saving and save your money instead of spending it. So that way when you are ready you can pick out the colors.

I have been engaged for a year now and I still have a year to go. I have probably changed my mind 4-5 times already, but I've been pretty much stuck on the current colors for a while.
Just look a "inspiration"  websties  go to stores and look at stuff in person and see what you like.
    Google the colors you like.
