So the venue I booked with requires a 500$ damage deposit, nothing new or exciting there. However, their original policy was that they just hold the check and don't deposit it unless something is damaged after the wedding. This is the only way I've ever seen damage deposits be handled. So I was all fine and dandy with that, no problem.
Well, this week the owner said that due to a cancelled check from a recent renter, they have changed their policy to actually depositing the check, therefore removing the money from my account, and then refunding me if nothing is damaged after the wedding. The refund could take up to a week to get to me.
I am a very budget conscience person and thought that I'd taken everything into account. Which technically I had, until they up and changed on me. So...now I have three weeks to come up with 500$ so that they can keep my money for awhile and then (hopefully) give it back to me. Sigh.
I guess there's nothing I can do..but now I'm stressing about money. Am I over reacting in thinking this isn't quite fair, or is this just the way things go?
