Dress opinions please

I've narrowed my dress search to three dresses, two are from David's bridal and one is the Alfred Angelo belle dress. I'm hoping some of you will share your opinions and experiences with these dresses. I know many people don't like DB because of their service but I went on a week night and was actually very satisfied with the service. I liked the way all three dresses looked but the DB dresses definitely felt a little flimsy. The AA dress costs almost twice as much as the other two and I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost when I'm only going to wear it for 5 hours and there is a 100 percent guarantee that the dress will be dragging through the dirt at some point (due to my venue). Has anyone had any issues with a DB dress not photographing well? Any input is appreciated :) Sorry for the long post! I have pics of the first two dresses on me at the bottom of the post

I strongly dislike the first and third, so it's an easy choice for me to say the second gown by FAR.. however they always look different in the picture than on the person.
I think the polyester DB gowns with the sheen to them photograph horribly, but that's not what you have chosen here. The beading will photograph lovely so I wouldn't let that be a factor in your decision.
  • I like the 2nd one the best.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I had a wonderful experience at Davids bridal. I think paying double is silly unless you are over the moon happy about it. Go with one of the DB dresses.
  • In order of favorites...
    2
    1
    3

But you need to pick the one that best suits you and your wedding.

As for your thoughts on about the extra cost when you are only going to wear it for 5 hours, etc. etc.  Just remember that you will be photographed in that dress for the entire time so you really want to love your dress not just the cost of it because you don't want to look back on those pictures 20 years from now and wish that you had gone with something different.

  • These are pictures of the dresses on models. They look so much different on the people trying them on than they do the model. So it's a little hard to help you narrow down youur choices when we don't see them on you.
  • I'm not sure how to load pics of myself can anyone tell me how?
  • When you write in the text box, you'll notice that at the bottom of the box there is a little picture of a tree. Click that and you can upload photos :)
  • After seeing you in the pictures (minus the third dress).  My vote is still most definitely the second dress.  You look amazing in it and it really highlights your shape.  I think the third dress would just overwhelm your tiny frame.

YES love the second dress... But I'm super biased because pick ups with appliques make me think of a little girl playing princess dress-up :/ To each their own, and you have to feel beautiful and be happy with the way you look on your wedding day..

But I think the second dress is still modern/trendy with that skirt, but a classic top. It's incredibly flattering and I can see you still loving the pictures 50 years from now.
  • Thank you everyone Smile the hard lines on the corset of the first one is what i liked but the material feels really cheap compared to other dresses. I'm starting to lose sleep over this whole situation but hearing everyones opinion really helps. I really really wish i could get input from my fiance but i know its not traditional.
  • Oh, yes. The 2nd dress is definitely my favorite.

Why not?  Just show him the dresses from the links, not the pictures of you.  I would cover up the heads of the modesl because that could influence his choice (like if he thought one model was better looking then the other).  Tell him to pick his favorite or ask him what he likes/dislikes about them.

Edit:  But make sure that no matter what he says you still pick the dress that you love the most because you are the one that has to wear it.

  • I actually tried don the Belle dress (3rd one).  I have to be honest. It's not flattering on most of the people I've seen wear it.  They don't look as great as they think they do. Although I went with a full ballgown (actually another AA Disney gown) the tulle arm wrap and drapings are a bit much.  Unless you're a size 2 it makes you look huge.

  • If you want input from him then get it! My H and I went dress shopping together. Just the two of us. It was awesome and he was sooo helpful, but I love shopping with him in general.

If you are still really torn, why don't you make a second appointment? Go back and try on a few things you would normally never try, just to "reset" your mind and help you relax about the process. :)
  • I love all the help i'm getting here i wish i would have utilized these boards from the start but my local board never has much activity.

[QUOTE]Those are pretty different dresses. The belle dress is very princessy and I makes me think of a fancy ball where everyone knows how to waltz. The second dress is class and my favorite. It is timeless. The first dress is nice, but I'm not a fan of pickups and they are a trend that is waning. Trends date your pictures, but if you are a trendy person and love pickups, then it suits you and you should pick what you like best.

This.  My thoughts exactly.  (I seem to always agree with Liatris).

  • I like the 2nd dress best, by far.

  • I like the first one.. But then again Im more into unconventional.. here are some of my ideas that may help you narrow it down. http://www.socialbliss.com/prima-romulus/the-bride-HA2DGMZT
  • I love the beading on the Belle gown and it was actually one of my personal picks when I was shopping around, but overall I say go with the second gown but add a glitzy sash to kind of mimic the feeling of the beaded top from the Belle gown.
