bouquet suggestions

I'm not normally one to even consider fake flowers for a wedding but we are getting married at a 5 day retreat that is over an hour round trip from any decent sized town.  Oh and my fiance and I are flying 4000 miles each way to be there.  Any suggestions as to what to use, how to transport, etc and have them still look good??

  • Here are different ideas
-Silk flowers (can be transported in hat box)
-Brotch bouquet (can be transproted in hat box)
    -Bible
    -Rosary
-Candle (probably battery operated safest option - you can decorate or paint it as you like)

  • Brooch bouquets are kinda fun. Definitely unique and personal if you use brooches from the ladies in your family. Not sure if I'd do it for my wedding, but if it's your style... Here's an example: http://www.theknot.com/weddings/photo/retro-brooch-bouquet-87665
  • Order simple flowers from a grower direct shipping site like proflowers.com.  Pay extra for vases.  Have the flowers delivered a couple of days in advance because they ship close blooms and the couple of days will give you open blooms.  Bring a couple of spools of ribbon and hand tie the simple bouquets there.  The flowers will be simple and the bouquets wiill be long pageant style; but I have had really good experiences with proflowers.  If you know of a better direct from grower site, then use them.
  • Check out Etsy for brooch and silk flower bouquets. There are some really lovely things available, and the great thing about not doing real flowers is you can have the bouquet as a keepsake. I know some people "preserve" their real bouquets, but there's only so much you can do with dried dead flowers, you know?
