2nd Wedding should I wear a veil or just an orchid in my hair?

I'm getting remarried this November and I'm not sure what I should do with my hair and accessories.

Our ceremony and reception are in a beautiful reception centre of an envirnomental education centre.  We will be having a 7:30 ceremony and then right into a cocktail reception. Photos will be taken ahead of time in several  venues.  My Dress is a strapless sweetheart neckline with a corset back and a messy pick up style skirt, but I will not be adding any extra crinolin underneath it.  I have rented a long cape in white velvet to cover my shoulders for the outdoor pictures as it will be cool here in November with a chance of snow on the ground.

When i tried on dresses they kept putting veils in my hair and i wasn't sure as it is a second wedding if I wanted to have one.....now I am not sure if it will make me look my bride like or just silly if I get one.  If I did get a veil I would probably do a fingertip single layer and wear it lower on the back of my head in my up do.

Any advice for second weddings?

  • Regardless of whether or not you wear a veil, you'll still look like a bride.  I myself am on the fence about veils...so I'm no help there.  I say go with what you like the most.  Either way, you'll still be beautiful.
  • I think you should wear whatever makes you feel pretty.  Who cares if its your 2nd wedding?  You should still get to wear what you want!

I have never heard of any etiquette that dictates that veils should not be worn for 2nd weddings.  And even if there is a rule on the books about that, I don't think it matters.  I wouldn't think anything of it if I saw a bride getting remarried wearing a veil.

By the way, your dress sounds gorgeous!

  • Definitely, wear what you want. I have never heard of a rule for veils with second weddings. I think most of the rules for second weddings are outdated anyway. I have known several people who even wore white dresses for their second weddings and no one said anything. It is your day, do what you want.
  • Veils are totally up to you, 1st, 2nd,.... wedding whatever.

  • I am a November bride, second wedding too!  I am wearing a veil, and taking it off for the reception.  I was worried about "second wedding" things at first, but no one else seems to have an opinion.  This is the "Real Wedding" for me anyway!!!

My veil is shoulder length, two layers, but no lace, crystals, or edging.  It's a veil, but hip.  Moms will want to see a veil.  Good luck!  Just do what you like the most.
