Color me confused.
So one of my bridesmaids, a good mutual friend of FI and I, who has a habit of perpetual lying, bought a dress that doesn't fit. She's a bigger girl, who's always struggled with weight fluctuations and I totally feel for her on that. When we looked at dresses in March she told me she wanted to lose weight for the wedding-- to which I responded, that's fine just get what fits you now and we'll take it in when you lose weight.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago. Her dress comes in and she tells me "oh I tried it on, it looks awesome!" Great. A week goes by and I'm at her house and she says, "I don't want you to freak out, but my dress doesn't fit. I need to lose 30lbs in order to get it zipped." OOOOk, what size is it? "an 18" Didn't you try on a 20 when we ordered? "yes, but I wanted to lose weight" and you haven't? "well, no".
So my mom calls DB and they say they can swap out sizes no prob. Ok, sweet. Mom calls friend and in a non-threatening way tells friend they can swap and she'd be happy to go with her if she wants the company. Friend's response? "Oh it fits now, I don't need to go!"
UGH. Seriously? You couldn't have lost 30lbs in 2 days without giving birth. And I know she didn't do that. I freaked out at first but now I've decided theres no point in worrying and she'll have to take care of it herself. If it doesn't fit on THE day, she just won't be in the wedding and we'll have BM stand at FI's side and walk out with his daughter, the flower girl.
Am I being ridiculous? Do I need to get on her about the dress? Just not worry about it and go with plan B if needed? Thoughts?
