I wore a Watters bridesmaid dress (actually their cheaper line, Wtoo) for a wedding. All of the bridesmaids were from different states and it worked out fine.

I've been in weddings where we ordered the dresses online from JCrew (they fit the same as any other JCrew dress, so sizing is really easy).
  • My girls were in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas and Virginia and I chose Bill Levkoff dresses. They can be found in just about every bridal store.
  • Don't feel you are limited to chain stores because your bridesmaids are all over.  DD's bridesmaids were from all over.  She picked a Saison Blanche dress, each of the ladies got measured by someone near them (sometimes a bridal salon will do it, or you can go to a seamstress) and then they called DD's shop a with the measurements and payment information.  When the dresses came in the shop then shipped them to each of the ladies for alterations.  It was pretty painless.
  • We did J. Crew. My bridesmaids live in Massachusetts and Texas.  It worked out perfectly.

  • My Ladies are in Texas, Arizona and Maryland... What I did was find the dress first off.. then I located stores in their area that carried the particular designer..

My ladies actually went to the stores and ordered their dresses. This way if they need allterations, they have a place convenient to where they live

  • Focus on designers, not stores (Dessy, Levkoff, etc.). They are carried more universally at different types of stores.

I feel your pain though... between me and my 5 bridesmaids, we're in 5 different states and four different timezones! I went the Jcrew/ann taylor route and it worked out great!
  • My bridesmaids are all over as well. I live in Wisconsin and they are in Arizona, Illinois, and South Carolina. I agree with pp about focusing on the designer. I searched online for dresses and when I found what I liked I researched and found a local bridal shop that actually carried and could order them. The girls who were in town got fitted in the store, for the girls who lived out of state, they were fitted at a local bridal shop where they lived. They were able to call their measurements in over the phone. Easy Peasy.
