Timing of Bridesmaid dress ordering

I'm having a hard time getting all/most of my bridesmaids together to try on dresses.  It has been postponed several times to try to accomodate schedules.  My wedding is in september and i'm getting nervous that we havent' ordered them yet.  I have picked out a dress online that I like (Alfred Sung), its just a matter of getting them to the store to try it on to ensure we all like it, but I'm really nervous that we will be cutting it too close.  Anyone have any advice on timing of ordering their dresses for a Sept wedding?

  • We got our bridesmaid dresses from David's Bridal and they came in within 3 weeks.

  • Perhaps the shop could give you more information of when the girls would need to order, if you choose that dress.  That way if it's not practical for them to come in and be fitted before your wedding, you can keep looking.  Especially if you're on a tight time frame I'd avoid the complication of trying to coordinate with everyone and just pass along the information (picture/style, price, where available if they want to see it/touch it/try it on) and ask them to let you know what they think.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I wouldn't try to round everybody together at the same time since it's not working.  I would take a few in at a time, 1 at a time if needed just to get them ordered.
  • If you order online, you'd better do it as soon as possible. Usually it takes about a month to tailor and deliver the dress. If you order early, you have enough time to check the dresses. It will not be too late to return the dress as well if the dresses are not satisfactory.
