Gray tuxes for formal wedding?

I agree with CGMr, as usual :-)

Tuxedos are appropriate formal wear for the evening.  If it's a formal daytime wedding, then morning suits are appropriate.  These are usually grey....do a google search for images, but I think they're quite fetching.     

If it's a less formal wedding, then a suit is appropriate regardless of time of day, with darker suits being more formal and lighter suits being less formal.   Many people are wearing suits instead of tuxes for weddings because they already own suits, or because it's a good investment piece in a man's wardrobe, and in either case makes more economic sense than spending over $100 on renting something of yucky quality that he will only wear once.

FI and his groomsmen are wearing dark grey tuxes. He preferred them to black and it looks very nice on him. I would have preferred black, but it's not as if it's brown or anything. And the Vera Wang ones look very nice.

We are having an afternoon, summer wedding and wanted to stay away from black. My Fi and his GM are wearing:

I would be very surprised and disappointed if any of our guests laughed at them. My advice is to choose what you guys like and picture yourself being married in. It's one day that you can dress however you want!

My FI booked the new Vera Wang grey tux and his GM are wearing similar style tux but different designer and in black.
Regardless of what anyone wears, I'm sure they'll all be handsome in them.
Choose what you guys like and go with it is my suggestion.

My dad and his groomsmen wore grey tuxes my dad had tails on his and 25 years later the pics still look good. I think all the guys looked really classy. You and your fiance should choose what you like and I'm sure your guests won't say anything negative.
