We're still thinking about what we want to do for ours while we wait to hear back from the music director at the church. Assuming it's okay with the church, we'll be asking one of FI's friends to play bagpipes for us during the ceremony. I don't know how big your ceremony site is, but the church we're using is fairly large, so I don't think one piper will make it sound harsh. Then again I absolutely love the sound of bagpipes. :-) If you had a large group, it might get too loud though. We're hoping to have his friend come visit so we can test out the accoustics and see whether it will actually work for the ceremony. Other than that, we're looking to ask one of my cousins to sing, and we'll have the organ at the church. The only songs I know I really want is Highland Cathedral (on the pipes) and Ave Maria.

We are thinking of bagpipes too! We just changed our ceremony venue so we are trying to figure out what will work best. I am also considering a flutist! Not sure which way we will go, but since my family is very Scottish so a piper would be fantastic! I really want to walk down the aisle to "For The Love Of A Princess" from Braveheart!

I haven't heard Beyonce's version yet, but I'll have to check it out. I'm hoping to hear back from the music director today so we can finally ask our friend and my cousin. She has an amazing voice and the last time I heard her sing was actually the Ave Maria. FI hasn't heard her sing yet, so I'll see if she can send us a clip, but I'm pretty sure she'll bring everyone to tears. I was thinking of having it during communion. I was thinking of walking in to Highland Cathedral, but now I'll have to check out the song from Braveheart. (Sidenote - did anyone see SNL this weekend and see the Daveheart sketch? It was great!) What other songs are you girls using? I'm trying to find some good ideas and I'm drawing a blank!

We used George Parker for classical guitar throughout our wedding day.  If you hired him, I'm sure he knows a lot of other musical professionals if you were looking for something specific to accompany.  I don't know about the bagpipes, but if you're having a smaller wedding (and indoors?) I think it might get a little loud.  I do love bagpipes though!http://www.georgeonguitar.com/

my friend had bagpipes at her wedding this summer.  They only had 1 bagpiper and he only played while people were arriving at the church.. he actually didn't even go inside the church he played outside the door and they kept the doors open so you could hear it inside but it wasn't too loud.  They used the organ for the rest of the music, I think it worked well. Cannon in D is another good song for processional stuff.. I used it for my girls.   Very pretty.

Look up John Newman. He's a bagpiper and his wife and daughter also perform Irish instrumentals on various "Irish" instruments. They are quite good and unique. Ask for a CD of their work.

I also used George Parker and was very happy with his classical guitar, it was beautiful! I walked down the aisle to Cannon in D, its my favorite!
