Time length to dry clean a wedding dress

Hello!
I got married in June and dropped my dress off to be dry cleaned at the end of August.  They told me it would take about 6 -8 weeks.  It is a very simple dress - no lace, beading etc.
After about 10 weeks, I called them because I hadn't heard anything and they said that they were still working on it since it was fairly dirty and had some wine stains to remove so it would take a little longer.  They were pretty adament that they would call me when it was done and I didn't need to call them back to check.
Now its been about 4 1/2 months and still haven't heard anything.
Is this normal?
Granted, it was pretty dirty, but it seems like an awfully long time to me!  I don't dry clean garments very often so I'm not sure on a typical timeframe so I don't want to call and bug them if this is pretty normal.  Can you let me know your experiences as far as how long it took to get your dress back?

Thank you!

Re: Time length to dry clean a wedding dress

  • OMG, that sounds like a ridiculously long time!  I don't care how dirty a dress is, there's no way it could possibly take over 4 months.  When you took it in, was there any kind of contract or agreement stating how long it would take?

  • I would ask for it back and take it somewhere else if its not entirely cleaned. Thats way to long.
  • Thanks ladies for the feedback!  No, I didn't get a contract or anything so maybe that was my fault.  And the stains weren't that bad so I figured it was quite a long time.
I really appreciate it - looks like I have a call to make today!
