Actual Pictures of Real Brides in Dresses

Any ideas or ladies who want to share their pics including designer and style? I'm just trying to get an idea of what the dresses I like in pictures, look like on real women - I recently had an appointment at David's and trying on dresses that looked great on size 2 models and terrible on my size 10-12 body was a real time waster.

I know Maggie Sottero has a really helpful section of real bride photos in her dresses on the website but I haven't had much luck anywhere else.

Thanks ladies!

  • Your best bet would be to find a pic of a dress you like on the model, then do an image search for that designer & style #.  Or do a search on a used wedding dress site. There's bound to be some real bride photos.
    Good luck.

  • You should take a peek over at pre-owned wedding dress sale sights.  A lot of the times the brides will post pictures of themselves in the dresses along with the information about the dress.  This will give you an idea of what they will look like on real people instead of stick thin models.

And in my sig pic I am wearing an Essense of Australia dress, style D1114.

But the only absolute way of knowing what will look good on you is trying things on for yourself.  Good luck!

  • I'm about your size, I have an hourglass shape, and I went with a v-neck fit and flare from Venus Bridal. (Sorry, I haven't had any fittings yet, so no pics!)

The only thing I can recommend doing is NOT looking at the mannequins too much, and instead pick dresses that fit your style, and try shapes of dresses similar to dress shapes that you already know look good on you- for example, I've never looked good in strapless, but I do look good in something that fits my curves, so I went to the salons and told that to my consultants, and they pulled dresses accordingly. Also keep an open mind- sometimes something that doesn't look appealing on the rack may look incredible on.

It will probably take a couple visits to figure out what works best for you, so don't get discouraged. I know I tried on about 35 dresses at 4 different salons before I found mine.
    Good luck!

When you say Davids, are you referring to Davids Bridal?  On their website they have a lot of reviews of their different dresses and often brides post pictures of themselves in the dress with their review.  It's worth checking out.

This!  The reviews were actually what made me choose my dress over another.  I loved the dress, but hated the sash it comes with, so I almost chose a different dress.  Then I looked at the reviews where other brides posted their wedding pictures and saw the different things they did with the sash and I was sold.  I went back the next day and bought it.  I've since put up my own review and pictures to help any future brides make the same decision.  (it also helped me find hair styles and accessories that looked good with that style too)

Maggie Sottero also has real brides on their website. I think Alfred Angelo might also.

edit -  reading fail. Sorry OP, I didn't notice that you already mentioned Maggie real brides section in the original post.
  • I'm about your size and wore a Jasmine Bridal gown. I had to order up 2 sizes; don't be surprised/disappointed if you have to; pretty much all wedding gowns run super small.

</div><div>Yeah, my dress is a Casablanca as well and pretty much all of their models on the website, who are really pretty, look just awful in the dresses. In the pic of mine it's like she's slouching, it looks terrible. Much prettier in person. </div>

I had this same issue beacuse I am short so the dresses all looked different on me- or so I thought but all my helper lady did was point out I needed a droped waist and it fixed the issue with almost every dress I tried on till I found my dream gown! Personally just clear a whole dayand hit the stores- a good consultint ( sp Is mostly just really what you need.!

  • thanks! i must check it out

  • Thanks for the suggestion! You look gorgeous in your dress btw!
  • Yup, good old DB. I saw some pictures but a lot of the dresses I liked didn't have reviews with real bride pictures, unfortunately.

  • Thanks for the suggestions! Here's one of the ones I tried on at David's Bridal...normally I'm pretty opposed to strapless but it was my favorite of the ones I tried on. Sorry for the sideways-ness

My DREAM gown (hoping it looks right when I try it on is Rociera by St. Patrick:

  • I agree with trying them on, to see what you really like. I always had someone with me to take a cell pic as well - a different pov than just looking in the mirror. You are beautiful in the style you posted, very flattering (I wear the same size, I may not have chosen as flattering a fit!) Good luck!
