stuck between two dresses...

Has this ever happened to any of you? You thought you found "the" dress, and then you tried another one on at a different boutique and love that one too? I fell in love with a Sottero and Midgley dress a few weeks ago (RMS 1032, but without the cap sleeves: http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?line=s&page=2&style=RSM1032). Then last night, my mom and I went to another boutique and I tried on a Maggie that I loved too! (Tuscana Vidal: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=Tuscan&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=12&style=A614)Now I'm confused and I don't know which to pick! Both look stunning on me, and I am going for the "wow" factor when I walk down the isle. Is it rude to return to a store to try a dress on a second time without purchasing it?

Re: stuck between two dresses...

  • personally I LOVE the first one. If you can wear it and get the WOW factor I say go for it and RUN with it. It's a phenominal dress.Did you bring anyone with you to both shops? What did they have to say? They are both beautiful which ever you choose :)

  • not a fan of the first if you remove the sleeves, but both are very lovely.  they have lots of similarities, so i'm certain you'd be happy with either.  sleep on it for a week, revisit, and buy.  in the meantime don't look at anything else or even pictures so your mind is fresh.
  • My mom comes with me whenever I go dress shopping. She is just as torn as I am! The first one is sexier, but the second one is softer and more romantic. The problem is that I tried on the first one so long ago that I don't remember it completely! I remember I loved it and everyone in the store said I looked great when I stepped onto the stool in front of the big mirrors. But everyone loved the second one yesterday too! Mom took pictures at both shops, so I might compare the two of them as well. I know there are worse problems to have, but this is really hard! (LOL!)
  • I'm still looking for dresses, but there's an Alfred Angelo dress that I've gone and tried on twice, because I was that torn about it. The store wrote it in my file the model # of the dress incase I go back again, they were really helpful and understanding that it helps to try it on again, even if you aren't necessarily buying it. I definitely say go back and try it on again, because for me, it ruled that dress out to try it on again. Both dresses are beautiful though! Good Luck!
  • I'm a fan of maggies!  I am wearing the Payton... so I would go with #2!  I think both are beautiful but I would go with #2, you have a little bit of tradition, but yet still a modern looking style.
  • If you are going for WOW, #1 is your dress.  I think #2 is pretty (I don't love the satin under the bust), but it is very traditional looking.  I like #1 with the cap sleeves.
  • I'm partial to the Sottero dress but as someone responded, it is probably best to take a week and think ion it. Even compare those pictures and you can go and try them both on again. I won't start my dress shopping until next week. I'm looking forward to it but am really nervous about the bridesmaids dresses. Good luck in your decision making.

  • My vote is for the Sottero and Midgely!  It is sexy and your FI will be wowed when you walk down the aisle in it!  I'm not a fan of the satin under the bust in #2 either but the lace is pretty.  Go with your gut!
  • Not rude at all!  A wedding dress is a big decision and most of the time a big (money wise) investment.  I'm in your same situation.  I found 2 dresses I LOVE but they are both completely different.  One is very sexy and one is very classy.  I just have to figure out what look I want to go for on my wedding day ....I say sleep on it for a few days and then go back with someoen you trust and try them both on again.
  • The first one is absolutely STUNNING! If I had the figure to pull that off I'd wear it in a heartbeat!
  • I love both dresses, BUT if you are going for wow factor I definitely think the Sottero and Midgley gown is the one. The MS gown is gorgeous but very much like many other gowns out there. I vote #1 Very pretty and sexy at the same time
  • Mandi...you should totally go back and try them on again. I took people's advice and did just that. It ruled out #2!(Oh, but I did find another Sottero & Midgley that I liked while doing that...see my other post "stuck between two dresses, part 2"...I think I am going to go with the new dress, #3)
