Adding buttons to my dress?

Just bought this dress, in ivory with gold beading (pictured is white with silver):  http://www.bellailusion.com/new/images/Print/Bridal/Allure2/8305B.jpgI always wanted little buttons down the back of my dress, but I fell in love with this one despite the lack of buttons :-)  My questions is, could I add buttons to the back of this dress without it looking too "busy"?  I'd keep the zipper, just add the buttons from the top down to my lower back where the full skirt starts.  My FMIL used to work in a bridal shop doing alterations, so she'd be able to sew them on...I'm just trying to decide if I really want them!  Thoughts?

Re: Adding buttons to my dress?

  • I want to do the same thing to my dress! I really wanted a dress with buttons, corset back but fell in love with a dress with neither of these!Your dress is gorgeous! Is it made for the zipper to be hidden?Mine is Paloma Blanca 3966. (site wont link to it)
  • Too much. There's enough going on with your dress. If you add buttons it will be too much.

  • Its totally possible but they might be a little lost on such an intricate dress.
  • My dress is all lace with beading it has a lot going on but I added buttons on to mine along the zipper. I think the buttons will look fine. If you want buttons added on then you should do it.
  • I want buttons on my dress too. http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?C=12&D=4524&P=1I was going to order them from the bridal shop, but they were $3 a button and needed 80. If you do add buttons, and find some for cheaper, can you let me know? I can't find any!
  • I have a Casablanca dress and they are adding the buttons on for me. Originally they told me it would be like an extra 100 to do it so I was having second thoughts but they ended up doing it for free. Sorry not much help!
