Lace veil with lace dress?

Ladies - I have a veil question.  I'll be wearing Maggie Sottero's Karena Royale dress for my wedding, but I'm not sure what to do about the veil.  I'm getting married in a cathedral so I wanted to do a cathedral or possibly chapel veil.  I had originally thought of getting a mantilla/lace trimmed one, but I'm concerned about getting the lace to match :(  Should I ditch the lace idea and maybe just get one with pearls or something?  There's a pic of me in the dress in my bio, but here's a link to the designer picture.  Thanks!!!http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=S5229

Re: Lace veil with lace dress?

  • Your dress is really similar to the one I wore, and in the end I just decided to wear a plain veil because I had the same concern about the lace matching up properly.  If you have your seamstress make a veil for you (which is what I did because it was even cheaper than buying from Occansey Designs), she might be able to get swatches for several different styles of lace and then you could compare each of them to your gown to see what kind matches best.  Occansey might be able to do the same thing for you, but it would probably be harder to figure it out through email vs. in person.  GL!

  • Knottie lpstl on P&E wore that dress with a mantilla and it looked fantastic.  You could page her over there for pictures.

  • my dress is similar and i went back and forth...... i ended up doing a plain cathedral veil (angel cut) and i love how it looks
  • That dress is beautiful!!! My dress is all lace also. When I tried the veil with lace everyone said that it was too much lace and that the veil actually took away from the dress. I think I am just going to go with a plain veil. Sometimes less is more but it is your day so get a veil you will love.
