Casablanca 1910-low back corset/bra?

I am wearing Casablanca 1910 for my October wedding and just had my first fitting.  Unfortunately, the corset that I thought would work with this dress, is still too high in the back. Any other Casablanca 1910 girls out there?  If so, what undergarments did you buy?  I am a 32D so sewing cups into the gown is not an option because it will not provide enough support.  Any help is appreciated!

Re: Casablanca 1910-low back corset/bra?

  • what kind of corset did you get?  i'm a casablanca bride (1918) and needed a low back bra as well.  i bought this: http://www.maidenform.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=70793&categoryId=71&wtlCategory=Lilyette%20®%20Full%20Figure&parentCategoryId=4

  • I just ordered my dress casablanca 1918. I was curious what color you girls ordered your dresses in ? I wanted white but the sales women talked me into ivory and now I am having second thoughts about it.
  • I order Casablanca 1901 a few weeks ago.  The sample they had was in ivory.  The dress has so much detailing, the saleslady thought that some of it would be lost if the dress was white. I didn't care too much about the color, so ivory was fine, and that is what I ordered.  My dress has a very low back that is covered with a layer of tulle and detailing.  I am rather small chested (sad :( ...) so am considering not wearing a bra at all.  The bust of the dress is already pretty padded.
  • *ordered. Sorry, typing quickly at work! :)
  • My dress is ivory.  I just had my first fitting and the color is beautiful.  The ivory compliments my pale skin much better than a white gown would. Thank you for your responses about undergarments.  I'm going to look into the "flattering me" corsets.  Thanks again!
  • Jessica1112 -  we are dress twins!  I am wearing 1918 as well.  I got mine in white.  Are you very fair skinned?  Ivory works better with that complexion.  I am italian so i have that slightly tanned/olive complexion which works well with a white dress.

  • I have olive toned skin as well. I am planning on tanning a little before the wedding also. The sample dress I tried on was ivory and they didn't have it in white for me to see. The sales women showed me other dresses in white and I didn't like the color as much but they were completely different dresses. I already ordered the dress so I can't really do much about it now. I am just annoyed because I am worried if the guys have on white shirts they will clash with me. I also have to pay extra to have my shoes dyed to ivory now. I should of went with what I first wanted which was white but everyone thought I should go with what I tried on so I knew what I was getting. Do you have any pics of your dress? What do you think?
  • no, sorry i don't have any pics of me in the dress to post.  what are your wedding colors?  could you have the guys wear ivory shirts?  a friend of mine did that b/c her dress was ivory and she didn't want to look "dirty" compared to the guys if they wore white.  dying your shoes shouldn't cost much... i think david's bridal does it for $3-5.

  • My wedding colors are white and blue but I guess I will just have to do ivory now instead of white. I love the dress though it is so beautiful! Are you wearing a veil?
  • don't fret... everything will look great.  that dress is beautiful.  i always say the picture on the casablanca wedsite doesn't do it justice.  i am going to wear a veil.  i actually have my first dress fitting tonight and i'm going to order the veil i liked... it's fingertip length, very thin satin trim, and a few scattered rhinestones on it.  i didn't want too much detailing on it b/c the dress has enough. Autumn Bride09 - i'm sorry this turned into the Casablanca 1918 post!  let us know how you make out with the corset.  i got my longline Lillyette at Macy's.

  • Thanks for all your help! How exciting your 1st dress fitting..... let me know how it goes. Wow,I see your wedding is only a few months away. Good Luck!!!
  • sooo, turns out my longline bra that i was raving about is still a little too high for the back of my dress... but the seamstress's quick fix was to unhook the first 1 or 2 hooks and tuck them in... worked well and i didn't even feel the difference. PLUS... my 3.5 inch heels weren't high enough for the dress length and because of the lace it can't be hemmed... i don't know why this happened b/c i was measured hollow-to-hem... anyway, i just ordered 4 more fab pairs of shoes on zappos.com that were 4"+ ... let's see how this goes!

  • I can't believe it is too long... When they measured you did you have your shoes on? I had to get the hollow to hem as well, you have to with that dress. Because I had that done it cost me an extra 200 dollars though. Do you think it will still be too long with a 4 inch heel? I still can't believe that, what did the boutique say about it? I would be little upset about that but I hope everything works out. GL!
  • i wasn't charged extra for the hollow-to-hem... now i'm wondering if they actually took it into consideration.  I'd say the dress is about an inch too long.  The seamstress is going to add a little bit more crinoline to the bottom to help bring up the length, plus I'll get a shoe about 1/2 inch taller... i'm really not going to make a big deal out of it at this point.  i'm used to high heels anyway.Autumn Bride - if you can't find another corset or don't want to spend a lot more money on one, try unhooking the first one or two hooks and tucking and securing them in ... it really worked for me.
