Veil quality question

Hi ladies,my daughter and i went out looking for veils and found them to be more than she wanted to pay in the stores for the 1/2 hour she will be wearing it.  so, looking online is confusing.  in the stores, there were veils that felt fine and soft, and some where the net was really stiff.  does anyone know what description to look for to make sure we are getting soft as opposed to crunchy net?thanks!!!!!

Re: Veil quality question

  • If you don't want a fancy one just plain with a satin trim you could tell her about the ones on weddingstar.com I ordered mine from there and I really like it.   It doesn't tell you how long it is besides the inches but they are considered fingertip length.   It's only $40 plus shipping & taxes but I didn't find anything I liked when I was looking.
  • bridal illusion is the softer netting.  If its anything other than a bubble veil or birdcage veil you want to make sure it is bridal illusion.
  • I had found one in a store that was incredibly soft, really didn't feel like netting at all it was so smooth but I didn't feel like spending $150+ for something that would be on my head for a half hour. I decided to order mine from Obridal.  Great price and nicely made.  The netting is a tiny bit stiffer than the one I had found in the salon but it is still very soft and flowy. As far as what it's called-no idea, sorry!Good luck!
  • I ended up making my veils. I made a fingertip length veil with a beaded lace edging. I got the bridal illusion from Joanns and the beaded lace from a local store here in Chicago. Ended costing about $50 (lace was $10 a yard) rather then spending $300!
  • The soft high end stuff is the silk tulle.  That is more expensive.  It feels softer and is more delicate but cannot handle a lot of embellishment.Illusion is made from nylon so it is stiffer and will typically be used in veils that require more embroidery since the fabric is sturdier. Then there is the plastic stuff, that's the really stiff stuff.
  • Thanks ladies!!!
