Alteration Help

I am going for my first fitting tonight.  This will be the first time I see the dress since it came in.  I'm very confused as to how much time is usually needed for alterations.  I am getting married in less than 6 weeks.  As far as I know, I am only trying it on tonight and then alterations will have to be scheduled.  Can anyone offer any advice on timeline?  I just want to be more educated before I go there.  I don't want to get pressured into doing something too quickly.  BTW, the dress shop is Volle's in Lake Zurich, if that helps. Thanks

Re: Alteration Help

  • It depends on the seamstress and how busy they are. I only needed one fitting and I had a lot done. It took two weeks for her to hem, bustle, take in the waist and bust, sew cups in, and make my veil. Just ask your seamstress when you go in for your first fitting.
