Opinions, Advice, Expierence....ETC!!!

I have having a dress dilema.  First I order a dress last year and after it came in and sat in my spare room for about a month or so I realized I made a mistake.  Now I am on the hunt for a new dress, and I have fallen in love with Casablanca 1900.  I am able to purchase the dress and a local bridal store but they do not have a sample in their store.  Now they can order a sample for $50 but no guarantees on what size they will get.I can drive about 1 1/2 to another store just to look at the dress (would love to try it on but since the bridal world believes everyone is a size 8, I cant since I am a size 16).  I have googled the internet for pics of real brides in this dress and have seen it on many different size brides, and it looks great on them all.My dilema is should I just order the dress blind and hope that is the "one" or get the sample or go to the other bridal store.  One side not the bridal store 1 1/2 away is having a Casablanca Trunk show in Oct.  Does anyone know how they work.  Is there more sample sizes available?Sorry this post is so long but I need some advice outside of my Family and Friends for once.

Re: Opinions, Advice, Expierence....ETC!!!

  • I've found the Casablanca dresses to be similar to my street size, ie I'm a street 10, the 10 sample fit me, we ordered in a 12 (#1878) b/c the sample could have been stretched along the way and it would be better a bit too big than too small.  No idea how trunk shows work, I think I'd wait for the show, then maybe pay the $50 for the sample to come in if I still didn't have a good feel for the dress.GL!
  • I would at least go look at the sample at the other store- make a weekend out of it.  And you can try on some others while you are there.  You may be surprised that you fit into the sample, too (it won't fit perfectly, but surely you can get some idea).  I am a 14 on top, but was able to try on all of the dresses I wanted to try.  Good luck!
  • I don't know what advice to give... but just have to say, I really love the Casa Blanca 1900 dress. It's beautiful!
  • Thank you all.  I guess deep down I knew thats what I should do, but just needed someone outside of Family & MOH, BM to say so.  I will keep you all posted on the outcome.
