Transporting dress for destination wedding.....

Has anyone had to or will be needing to transport their dress for a destination wedding??  I currently have it in a garment bag from Davids Bridal.  The only thing I can think of is carrying it on with me, but will it fit over head?Any ideas/advice???

I heard if you tell the flight attendants its a wedding dress that they will put it in the closets up front so it doesnt get ruined.  So I would just carry it on.

Double bag it. Many airlines have closets or you could consider shipping it via fedex, ups, etc.

I carried mine on the plane (Delta) with no problems whatsoever.  I made arrangements to have it steamed upon arrival at my destination.
