Re: Long bridal trains going out of style?

  • I'm confused.  Are you here because you are getting married and are engaged, or are you here to pimp out your article?
  • this article was only written over the weekend, i've been a member of this site since early this year. does that answer your question?
  • This sounds a bit off, vendory.
  • I personally don't think what's in style matters, it matter what you like. Trust me, no matter how "cool" and "trendy" and "hip" your dress is now, I'm pretty sure that your kids will laugh at it in 20 years. Don't be so worried about what other people think is cool.
  • There was a BM on Say Yest to the Dress this weekend who said "I just think she (bride) should be wearing something trendier. I know everyone else loves it (the dress bride liked best), but it's not the one. It's too boring." I'm paraphrasing, but I wanted to smack her. It's not your wedding, snotty! And I bet there are plenty of women who, looking back at their attire over the years, wish they hadn't been slave to quite so many trends. My gown has a chapel length train and I love it.

  • lol thats a good way to put it... i've never really thot abt it like that. personally i've 5ft 11 i dnt think i;d get away with a long train cos am so tall n skinny. n i dnt want anything that makes me look taller or skinner argh.. life is tough on tall girls!
  • why didnt you mention in your OP that you were the author of that link?
  • because it says so in my signature?
  • i am a newark bridal fashion examiner. its clearly stated in my signature. i started writing articles for them last week. i am also getting married. am i allowed to do both? because from the sounds of it i must either be a bride to be or an author and not both. sheesh
  • Long bridal trains can't go out of style! It's a classic and it's timeless, imo.  They can dress up even some modern looking gowns.  :)

  • who cares if she wrote the stinkin' article! anyhoo, i am 4 ft 11 and because of that my gown had to be custom ordered with the hem shortened 4 inches. the gown came with a chapel train which isn't too long on a normal person except on me i was swimming in it. it looked pretty ridiculous, so along with the hem we ordered the train shorted by 1 ft. that way, i will have the suggestion of a train and still "feel like a bride because heck you are only wearing this thing once" (quote from my mom!) and not be dragging all over the place.
  • haha lol..  i hav a friend from sri lanka and she is the exact same height as u! as u can imagine i feel like a giant when i walk next to her! she is engaged too but her wedding will be in sri lankan tradition sari style wrap around dress so there really wont be a train for her to worry about!
  • I think a train is a train. Although I don't think the article was well written. The article could have been written better and the structure was horrible.
  • ummm ok...?!
  • What in the world is going on here? Someone writes an article, she's accused of being a vendor, but, as near as I can tell, she's not selling anything (read: isn't a vendor) and access to the article is free. It never ceases to amaze when adult women snipe at each other from behind online handles. Why? We've estatblished that she hasn't violated any Knot terms of use here-- if she had, you could have (and should have) reported her to the moderator. Because you don't have a leg to stand on (and have decided you don't care for her journalistic style ) you're going to keep taking petty pot shots at her from the comfort of your last name-less anonymity. Would you walk up to a co-worker you knew only by name and say "I heard your proposal in the meeting yesterday...it was really garbled and unclear. You really have no talent for public speaking, and can't pitch your way out of a paper bag. Of course not. Or, at least, I'd hope not. Knock it off. Be nice.

  • ... ah well such is life i suppose. I've been on this site for quite a while now but always just lurked n never put anything personal [except my email address which i mistakenly put as my username and now cant change argh!] but yeah i never posted anything bcos i really already have enough drama. and i see ppl get into arguments all over the net even on youtube! i dont know why i decided to "share" that link, since i'm now branded a vendor/article pimp. Did i ever ask anyone to buy anything? Clearly my posts in this forum n my "Vendory" article bother some of u ladies that much, i shall delete my posts [if possible] n in the mean time if it bothers u that much then theres a simple solution DONT READ IT. to all the ladies who managed to see past my vendor-ishness. thanks n goodluck with all ur weddings n ur very lucky if ur not as tall as me cos u can wear mega heels n get away with it!! bye. x
  • Abi, I don't know if having your email address as your user name is a good idea.  The girls on the national boards can be rather snarky as you have come to realize, and may send you nasty emails in addition to nasty comments on here.  As to your question, I agree with pp's who said that it doesn't matter what's in or out of style.  All that matters is that you feel like a princess on your wedding day.  I'm not a model in my everyday life, so why would I even think I could pull that off on my wedding day?
