Alterations Question PLEASE HELP!

Hello, ok here is my dilemma.  I purchased a size 14 gown with a corset back for an August wedding.  Lost weight, also pushed the wedding back.  I am now in a 10, which i know would not be terrible to alter, but also plan on being in a size 8 by the wedding, and someone at Davids told me it would be really expensive and really silly to try to have a 14 altered to an 8.  I found a dress online that I like, cheap too haha and it comes in an 8, my question is this:  If i order the 8, how much would it cost to have the zipper swapped out for a corset back?  And how much room would that give me to play with if I am not quite an 8 on my wedding day (up or down)?  I want to have some sort of action plan before I purchase a new gown....Thanks so much in advance!

  • Corset backs allow you to pull dresses tight so if you get your dress in your current size, you'd probably be able to pull it to fit your body on your wedding day. If you love your original dress I would go ahead and get it altered down to your current size. check your local board for a recomended seamstress. David's Bridal alterations abou re pricey. I had my dress altered from a ten to about a five (between a four and six anyway) and the altered dress came out beautifully.
