My dress won't stay in place!

I had my first fitting last night, and while she was pinning the bottom for thehem I realized the dress kept sliding down and I'm thinking the crinoline was causing it to slide.  The dress was laced up as tight as she could get it, but it has to be taken in.  Once the dress is taken in and it can be laced up tighter, will it stay in place better?  Is there anything I can do to give the dress more "grip" on the inside so it doesn't slide down the nylon crinoline?

Cool, thanks for the tip! I'll have to keep an eye out for your married bio. I already have the sashes (meadow green from Ann Taylor, from a few seasons back) so we're going dress shopping within the month to find nice black dresses.
