Maggie Sottero Gatsby

Hi Everyone!I was wondering if anyone has tried on/worn the Gatsby dress. I have seen it and tried it on briefly, but the pictures didn't turn out, and the consultant didn't really offer any constructive feedback. I love it in the picture, but I'm well aware that the dress doesn't look the same on "real people"... Advice? Loves/Hates? Real pictures? Anything is much appreciated!

Re: Maggie Sottero Gatsby

  • I love Maggie!!! and I love this dress, however I have not seen it in person! how did you feel in it?
  • It honestly makes me feel a little better to hear someone else say this. This was my DREAM dress. I tried it on (briefly like you- the attendant and the store really sucked!!) and they wouldn't let me take pictures. I assured them I already knew the designer/style of the dress, but they still refused. Their loss because now I wouldn't buy from them if the dress cost $1.   Anywho, my mom and sister were with me and they really liked the dress on me. The attendant told me I was too short and it looked bad and I just really didn't like it. Not even just on me, I didn't like it on the hanger. It didn't help that it was a gaudy gold color that, for me, really took away from the dress. All in all, I agree that it really doesn't look the same on as it does on the model. I wish I had some pictures to share with you! I gave up on it and continued searching for the perfect dress and I found it though so don't give up!!
  • Hey! I actually tried on and bought the Gatsby, however, I don't have any pictures of me in it yet! It should be here August 26th-31st. I LOVED the dress on. It was everything I loved about a dress, beautiful beading, sheer overlay, I wasn't crazy about the corset but after trying it on I realized that's what I wanted. It honestly gives you the perfect hourglass figure. I look at pictures of it the MS website weekly and just dream for it to get here! I'm sorry I can't be much help yet, but I promise to post pics as soon as it comes in!
  • I'm sure there are other salons that sell the dress, I would check them out.  I bought a Maggie Sottero dress and the salon had no problem with me taking pictures of me wearing it...When you call, tell them you have a certain dress that you want to buy, but want to make sure it looks the same in pictures as it does in the mirror..
  • I tried this one on, too, but I don't remember where I uploaded the pics?? My mom might have them- I'll see if she can email them to me (my computer was on the fritz when I tried that one on) I love love loved it online, too, but super hated it on me- I'm a tiny girl, shaped roughly like a 12 yr old boy (no hips, no butt, no bewbs) and this dress did NOTHING for me. It's so "unstructured" that there was no support anywhere. (ALSO? I have really sensitive skin and in the 8 minutes I had it on it made my arms raw! ALL of those beads... my arms would be bloody by the end of the night) :-/All in all, it's not my dress, but it's so beautiful! I still absolutely love it. If you're really interested in the vintage/ beaded look, there's a Mori Lee that looks GOOD on real people! • Thank you so much everyone! I feel good in the dress, but because of the consultant and her attitude I just had a bitter taste in my mouth the whole time. She didn't lace it up that well, so the structure wasn't good... I'm glad to hear that it gives that hourglass figure, because I have a more athletic build, my shoulders are broader than my hips, and my waist isn't super-defined. Thats why I like the corset, because I can tighten it as much as needed. I'm an average girl, 5'5" 129lbs, but I don't want to add any thickness to my body with the wrong shape of dress. Thanks for mentioning the beading! I didn't have it on long enough to realize that would be a possibility. That Mori Lee is gorgeous! I may have to try that one on as well. I have another appointment (at a different salon) to try it on again in a few weeks. I'm hoping to get a better feel. Thanks again!
  • PS- thank you halli02berry and hippie4yahweh for offering to post pics! if you can find them i'd love it. can't wait!!
