High heel worries...

Hi ladies, During my fitting, I discovered that I would need to wear at least a three-inch heel so that my dress would not drag on the ground. The hem is lace, so it cannot be altered. So what's the problem? Well I'm a ballerina flat kind of girl, so I'm just a little concerned. Actually very concerned...now all I think about is tripping down the aisle...any suggestions for comfortable, supportive heels that stay on? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks! Linda

  • Oh one last thing, I'm a little annoyed because ordering the petite length could have avoided this problem! (It's 3 inches shorter, hence no need for 3 inch heels!) Ok, that's enough for now.
  • Thicker heels or wedges will be great for you. I'm a flat kinda girl too, and thick heels and wedges are great for me, when I do want to wear heels. Here are a few: I have some of this brand and they are very comfy... • I also intend to wear flats to my wedding, assuming that the dress cooperates. When I do need to wear heels (occasionally for work) I stick with a chunky heel or a wedge. For my prom I actually had an issue like this, so I wore wedge flip flops and was very comfy! Plus, since the dress was long, nobody saw the shoes, so nobody knew about my cheap foam flip-flop heels. Good luck!

  • Any good seamstress could shorten that dress. They would just have to take it up at the waist instead of at the floor, that way they wouldn't damage the lace at the hem. I've seen it done so it shouldn't be that hard, maybe a little pricey but not difficult.

  • I agree that it could probably be hemmed by seamstress bu would require taking the dress apart... I too am a ballerina flat kinda girl but if I were going to wear heels it would be a wedge. Much sturdier and easier to walk in than kinny heels Good luck
  • I am not good with walking in heels, either, but I find that wedges and heels that are thicker are a lot more manageable to walk in.  Try those, if you must wear heels.

  • You should be able to find a pair of wedges that should work.  They would be little more comfortable.
  • Thanks ladies! Now I guess I'll look for some wedge or thicker heals!
