Need advice regarding my "lovely" photographer!

Hi Ladies! I hope you are all well. So, as many of you might remember I booked Forever In Time photography for my wedding last October.  They had a fire last December and lost almost everything. Here I am OVER a YEAR past my wedding. I dropped our photo's off in MARCH (after giving them plenty of time to recoup and rebuild and being VERY understanding). They told me it would be 16-22 weeks before they started my album. I worked with Darlene and she was going to do everything she could to get it done sooner. 22 weeks passed in September and my album still had not been started. It then turned into that the woman working for the company was not going to do them and they were going to be sent out. As of 3 weeks ago, they were supposed to go out but I still have not heard from them. Now, there is no answer when I call or email. The office is closed and the only time I can see anyone is if BY CHANCE its open when I drive by. The BBB has over 20 complaints on file and they are not responding. I feel like its time to get a lawer involved. I either want my almbum and prints STAT or I want my money back. I am just so nervous that I am going to get screwed on all of this if I involve a laywer -- as in they'll claim they lost them in the fire or something? I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Yikes, what a mess.  I think you have been more than reasonable in your requests. If you do decide to go the lawyer route, start documenting everything you have told us thus far, including conversations you have had with them and your understanding of the situation.  Review the contract again to make sure there aren't any surprises.  If you would want to start by sending a certified letter stating it will come to legal action if certain agreements aren't made to your satisfaction within the next 30-60 days (to be fair), I think it might help get their attention.  I believe Quinnisauras had to do something similar. I agree, I would be worried about your prints too, but hopefully they are professional enough to mediate this out of court.  Sorry Kel... what a pain.

Hey lady, Hope all is well other than this issue. Someone that I know booked them for her wedding. She got married last September, she is going through the exact same thing. I would most definetly contact an attorney. That is rediculas that they cannot do what you paid them for. I hope everything works out and please keep us updated.

I had briefly looked into "Perotta's Photography" when planning my wedding and noticed there was a "Diane Perotta" listed on the Board at Forever In Time.  I e-mailed my concerns about the BBB rateing of Forever In Time asking if there was a relationship to Perotta's Photography and they never responded.I assume if there was no relationship they would have let me know.It looks like Perotta's is now operating under a new name "Portrait Arts Photography" in Hudson, NH.  I'd contact them as they have ties to FIT and, since they are still in business, are likely to not want to have their name dragged through the mud: 603.821.9850 GL!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. You are much more patient than I am. I think it's definitely time to start thinking about a lawyer and ditto to everything Yaybananas said. This is completely unacceptable.

Unfortunately I just received a phone call from one of our brides from last year saying the exact story and asking me what to do. My co-worker also had mentioned sending a certified letter. I do think this is the way to start. Please keep us posted

Thank you all for the advice! I am going to begin drafting the letter.  I need to make more of an effort to come around here more -- you guys are the best!
