Two Dresses in Mind (so far)

I went dress shopping and have a few faves. It's between two dresses which are totally different from each other. What do you ladies think? I love both for different reasons!  Also, do you think the type of wedding dictates the type of dress (i.e. big church wedding and indoor reception vs. an outdoor ceremony and reception)?  Would love to hear your thoughts! • I love the first one. I think that that dress could work for either a church or outdoor wedding. I just like the softness of it.

  • Honestly I love the first one, EXCEPT for that flower, it doesn't look quite right too me, seems a little sloppy or something, the brooch or whatever in the middle is nice it is just the "petals" that I think take away from the dress I am not normally a fan of lace, but the second one is actually really gorgeous Do you have any pics with you in either, that would help?

  • I wish I did! But the store wouldn't allow me to snap photos of me trying them on. (I still don't understand why not?)Thanks for your input, ladies!
  • Both are beautiful but I love the Amsale.  I bet the fabric is amazing.
  • Definitely #1!!! They are both gorgeous, but there is something very soft, elegant, and special about the first one. It seems like I have seen the 2nd one quite a bit, but never anything like the first one.
  • Wow they are both really pretty.  I think my vote is for #1.  I like the softness of the fabric but how it is classic and modern at the same time.  I love lace so I like the second one too especially the scalloped edges but I think there are prettier lace dresses.
  • I love them both, this is a hard one. #1 seems more elegant and modern. But it is also timeless. I love the top and the fabric.
  • I love the Amsale Cecily.  It looks so soft and airy/flowy.  Gorgeous!

  • Oh I meant to answer your question about type of wedding dictating type of dress.  I am having an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception.  I was at first concerned about this because the type of gowns I am attracted to would be ones that some people might say not suitable for outdoor ceremony. Then, I thought about how it's my wedding and I want to wear the wedding gown that I want to wear instead of matching it with venue or etc.  The dress will be (off-white) so not like it'll clash or anything.  So, I am now just focusing on a a gown that I love without thinking too much about whether it'll match or not.  The only thing I do keep in mind is gold vs. silver (as that will clash!)  I could be in the minority, though.. but it's how I feel (for now). :D

  • Great dresses!  I too have an outdoor ceremony/indoor reception, and I am wearing a full-A-line ballgown!  I want to look like a princess on wedding day! Sooo, both are gorgeous dresses.  I prefer the Lazaro because I think it's really unique.  However, the Amsale is beautiful too.  Really close call.

  • Thanks for all your help, ladies!  I have read/heard different things about whether venue should affect which dress you choose. As Googs and June mentioned, I should probably just go with whatever dress I want and not factor in venue too much.  It's my day after all ;)Right now I'm leaning towards the Amsale...it's so classic and the fabric is really amazing. The Lazaro is so sweet and pretty too though. I'm still going to be looking though. I have a few more shops I want to scratch off my list, so who knows...maybe I'll find the one and know it right then and there!
  • I love the timeless elegance of the Amsale it has that Wow factor. I had to stay further down on the price scale however I really love my dress: Gatsby by Maggie Sattero I was looking for a vintage feel and it has it.                           Chrissie
