dying a veil

is it possible to dye a veil? I'm interested in a Mantilla veil that I found for cheap on eBay, the only problem is the veil is ivory and my dress is white. Any idea on how much dying it would cost?

Re: dying a veil

  • You could not dye it a lighter color, only darker.  I wouldn't recomend it anyway, there's a huge chance the color would not be even.
  • I agree.. I don't know if it is possible to dye it a lighter color (especially white!). I'd say keep looking for another one..
  • It is not possible to dye it lighter you would have to bleach it and that would be very dangerous for the material it could easily ruin it and I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to bleach it to match. I don't recommend it at all.
  • You can't "dye" a lighter color- the only option to make something lighter is bleach. That is ill-advised on a delicate synthetic like tulle.
  • i had occansey designs dye my ivory custom veil a bit darker after i received it and realized that it was much lighter than the ivory of my dress (nothing that we could know beforehand).  they did a perfect job and the color was totally even.  i believe it can be done at home with tea (maybe ask on DIY board), but you may want to see if a veil company like occansey would dye it for you.  i can't imagine they would charge that much, but depending on the price/uniqueness of the veil, it's probably cheaper just to buy an ivory one in the first place.
