Re: Dress alterations???

  • it all depends on your seamstress, it took mine 2 weeks to have it hemmed i didnt need any other alterations. i also didnt have to worry about gaining or losing weight since it was a corset.

  • It is a zipper.  And it needs to be taken in the boob area :)  And hemed. I guess I will try find someone so they can give me a timeline.  It really is not that far away.

  • yeah thats the smartest way. you want to have it done so you dont stress, in case its not done right the first time. you want to have time to make sure its perfect before your wedding. especially since it has to be taken in.GL

  • My store won't even start alterations until a month before the wedding, because your weight can fluctuate so much. So my first fitting was on June 18th for my July 18th wedding, my second fitting was intially scheduled for July 2nd but rescheduled because the seamstress was in the hospital. So second fitting was actually on July 10th, and final fitting on July 14th. I think it would be okay to start looking for a seamstress, but I wouldn't start your alterations more than a month in advance.
  • I'm having TONS of problems with my seamstress, so I would go in at least 2 months prior. My seamstress told me 18 days and it's been 48 and she just told me today when I went to pick it up on the 3rd scheduled date, that she needs another week- to do the bustle. This is the lady that the dress shop suggested I go to and she's supposed to be very great and professional but I'm having TONS of problems. I just want it done! It's better to be safe than sorry- I'd start sometime mid october and if it's done early all the better! GL
  • You'll never know unless you ask--I would call around and get prices and timelines. Maybe you'll find that diamond in the rough!
