Ivory or White Dress?

I have pale skin but have always dreamed of wearing a white dress.  I tried on a couple ivory dresses and they appeared white but I do not know if I will regret not wearing white.  Are there any reasons to go for ivory over white?

Get what flatters your skintone the best. There's no reason that white is better than ivory, or vice versa. It won't make you any less of a bride, and nobody will be able to tell the difference. To anyone not planning a wedding, ivory and eggshell and ecru and diamond white and white are all the same exact thing. And if you say that the ivory dresses you tried on look like they're white, then I'm not really seeing what the problem is here.

ditto.  what would you regret?  ivory is just a shade of white.  it doesn't matter what color you wear as long as you like it.

Thank you for your feedback.  I think my concern is that the ivory will look yellowish or dingy and not like true white.  The dresses I tried on looked good but next to a white dress you could tell that it was not pure white.  I still have a little more time before my order needs to be placed so I will go and try them on again.

I always thought that I would wear a pure white dress too, but..... I think that most ladies go for ivory because it is much more forgiving than white, especially in photos. On another bridal website I did a poll of those who are wearing white or ivory and out of 84 people, 55 were wearing ivory, 11 white, and the others were wearing some other color. One person told me that wearing white is like putting a florescent light under your face in photos and won't show all the details of the dress because it is so bright (just something to consider). I think that in the end, you would have more regrets wearing the pure white than a shade of white (ivory, diamond white, etc.). I think that an ivory will look beautiful on almost anyone. i wore white because of my wedding colors and im tan. it all depends on those details. i loved my white dress and it looked beautiful in pictures. just try different ones on and get what makes you feel like a true bride.GL

Will you be standing next to someone wearing white?  Probably not.  Wear whichever color in the white family that is best for your skin tone, and if your skin tone is pale, ivory is probably your best bet.

i didnt try on one ivory gown that looked dingy.  it looked ivory, or in some cases, white.  my dress was light gold and still looked white in many pictures.

My dress was ivory, and after the wedding I had people in SHOCK that it wasnt "pure white".  No one could tell.  Get what looks best on you.

My dress was ivory; I don't think it looked dingy at all.

My dress is ivory, and I absolutely love it, I did try on white dresses, but the ivory looks so much better on me. Wear what you feel makes you look good.:)
