second dress for reception, need advice.

I was wondering is it ok to change into a black dress to wear at the reception? I want to change out of my wedding dress to dance and have fun at my reception. I found this great dress buy it is black. Does it really matter what colour dress you were to the reception? Thanks in advance.

  • I don't think it matters. If you want to wear it, wear it. You might want to wait until the first dance & cake pics, but I say go for it if you wish. :)

  • The Wedding Police won't come and arrest you if you wear a color other than white.

  • you can wear whatever you like.  as a guest personally i'd raise an eyebrow, but that's me, not you.
  • Ditto PP.   Im sure several of your guests will make comments, hopefully to themselves.  But if you dont care about that kind of thing, wear the black dress.
  • You can do whatever you want....but if it were me, I would try to stay in a white/ivory/champagne colored dress. Most of the older generations have not even heard of brides changing into a reception dress, much less a black one. I don't think it's a huge 'no no' but it is worth a good shopping trip or two to see if you can't find something in a more bridal shade.
