House of Brides?

So I have been searching for my wedding dress for over 4 months now. And so far I keep finding stuff online that I love and nothing in the stores. I am getting married on the beach so finding a dress seems to be difficult. I love Nicole Miller, J Crew, and Dessy. My problem is J crew doesn't have a wedding gown shop in southern CA. As for Nicole Miller it is about 3 hours away from where I live and every time I have gone to a bridal boutique that has dessy they don't have the dress I saw online. My questions is, has anyone ordered from House of Brides? They have one dress that I love but I am worried on buying my wedding gown online. What do you think?

Re: House of Brides?

  • House of Brides can be hit or miss. You can try Pearl's Place or Netbride, both are reputable phone order stores. I would be learly of not trying on the exact dress before purchasing. I almost did this after trying on tons of dress, finally found the dress and it looked bad on me. You can preview some of J Crew dress, by appointment at a few locations, including one in L.A. I'm sure there's a Nicole Miller store there too. I would say even if it's 3 hours away, it's worth the trip to try it on first. I also know that Nicole Miller dresses are also sold at other stores, so you may want to do more digging on that. If you do all of that and still don't find the dress, I would only buy online if you know you love the style, fabric, designer, etc.
  • Pearl's Place and Netbride are the best with RK running a second.
