Changing to a lace up back?

I have my beautiful gown that I love so much, it is just about everything I pictured, except I really wanted a lace up back. It's Davis style # T9252. Would it look right with it? And would the seamstress change it for me? Also it had a slight sweetheart neck, but I would like it to be a little bit more dramatic, just a little, not boobie city. It's still amazing regardless but what do you think?

Re: Changing to a lace up back?

  • I think the corset back would look stunning on the dress. Many corset backed dresses have similar bodices to the gown you have chosen. A good seamstress should be able to do this for you no problem. I work at a bridal shop and we are constantly making dresses into corset backs. If you are smaller chested plunging the sweetheart neckline a little further would be ok. If you have been gifted with a larger chest you may want to consider that it wont take much more plunge for the neckline to become a little riske.
  • I responded a couple of posts down about what a seamstress can do. My daughter's dress has a straight-across strapless neckline - and the seamstress made it a sweetheart neckline. It cost us a pretty penny in alterations but IMO, a good seamstress can alter the neckline - or in your case - change a zipper back to a lace-up. Get some good recommendations on your local board to find out if anyone has had this done or if they can recommend a seamstress to do it.
