Can this dress be hemmed?

I purchased a sample dress that is tulle with a lace border at the hemline. The sales people said that it would be an easy fix to hem the dress. Can they do this without messing up the tulle/lacework? How is this done? Anyone else have a similar situation? More pics in tinyurl.

My dress has a lace hem and I asked about this as well.  They basically said that they'll remove the lace border, trim and hem the dress as needed, and then replace the lace.  My seamstress says it's very common and they do this all the time.

It probably has to be taken up at the waist.

Based on the picture I think they would have to take it up at the waist seam instead of the bottom.

Ditto pp's. Mine has the bottom like that as well & I needed to take it up at the waist.
