About to buy 2nd dress - please help!

I am 16 days away (yikes!).  My alterations are not going well and don't feel I will be comfortable in my dress at all.  There was a dress I found a while back that I think might have been the one and is much more comfortable. Please provide opinions on which one looks better!  I keep going back and forth between buying the 2nd one or not.   Thanks so much!  I also posted this on my local board - sorry if it is a duplicate but I want as many honest opinions as I can get!http://tiny.cc/iWNFChttp://tiny.cc/go9Y5 ORhttp://tiny.cc/x0VdThttp://tiny.cc/dZqpr

  • My vote is for #1.  I don't know which one is your original dress.  But, I like 1.
  • What exactly don't you like about your dress? 16 days is still plenty of time to get it altered to the way you want it. The big question is can you get the other dress ordered AND altered in 16 days? I think you look great in both and I don't prefer one over the other, but it is important that you feel beautiful and are comfortable on your wedding day. Keep that in mind when making your final decision.

  • I think that at 2 weeks, you're just stressing out, to be honest.  Your dress is going to fit you and feel amazing the day of the wedding.  Just relax! :) If you don't feel that alterations are going well, then you should speak with the seamstress or the manager of the bridal store before you go out and buy another dress.  Let them know your concerns and help to find you a solution that doesn't include buying a new gown.  Remember, there's a reason you bought THIS ONE in the first place.  Don't forget that!
  • #1 looks best on you. . . If you're alterations are going badly, you might want to see if you can find a different seamstress who will do a rush job for you. Buying another dress 16 days before the wedding seems like more stress rather than less.
  • They both look great on you.  I wouldn't buy another dress if I were you.  yes, its important to feel comfortable and happy on your wedding day, but what exactly is making you feel otherwise?  Try talking to the seamstress, voice your concerns or even find another seamstress.  Good luck
  • I also vote for dress one
  • They both look good. I vote #1. However, like the pp said this may just be you freaking out that the wedding is close. I didn't see anything majorly wrong with either dress. Take a deep breathe and ask the opinion of someone who will give you an honest answer.
  • I like Dress #1 HOWEVER I think they both look great on you and you'd look good in either one so I wouldn't reccomend changing dresses. Take a deep breath and if the alterations aren't coming out right you still have a couple more weeks for that seamstress to get it right or you can take it somewhere else.
  • I also like both of them on you very much. I had a hard time deciding, but I think I like #1 a little more. Which is your original?

  • I like #1, I hope it's your original.
  • Same, #1 gets my vote.  I'm hoping its your original.
  • I like #1. I don't even like #2.
  • To me they look almost completely identical, and both look equally good on you.  This close to the wedding, you may just be having doubts, which are completely normal.  I agree with pp that buying a second dress and trying to get it altered in 16 days sounds like more stress than sticking with this one.  But if you're really unsure, look at the pictures of yourself in each dress and see if you can see which you look happier in.  That might help you decide :)

  • I am buying the sample dress today (dress 1 without the veil).  Yay!  I feel so much better.  The only thing is there isn't time for it to get cleaned but it was in good condition so I should be okay.  Now I just have to pray when I bring it to the seamstress tomorrow she can do the work in less than 2 weeks!  Thanks for the advice and support - I know I am making the right decision now.
  • #1 is definitely the best choice!!! Good luck!
  • This post makes me sad.  I have the second dress.
  • xdmarie-Don't feel bad!  #2 is a beautiful dress.  What's unflattering on one person might look great on someone else.  In the end though, all that matters is that you love it.  Eons ago when I asked for opinions on here, a lot of people said they didn't like my dress and that it wasn't flattering... blah blah blah lol.  I'm so glad I didn't listen to them because I think my dress looked gorgeous, and it was perfect for me.  Just remember that the people on here aren't fashion experts, and we don't all like the same styles.

  • Marie - I still like the other dress - I did buy it!!  My sister was kind of sad when I got the other one (even though she LOVES the one I have now) because she said it was the prettiest dress she ever saw.  She wishes she could have kept it for her wedding, but seeing how she is 9 inches shorter than me I don't think that will work with the design!!It just didn't look good on me.  I had to order it much bigger because the measurement around my rib cage and then they couldn't size it smaller in all areas because of all the detailed bead work.  I am sure it looks beautiful on you.
