Priscilla of Boston Alterations Cost

Hi, I just went in for my first fitting at Pricilla's of Boston (I got the Platinum 210 dress).  The alteration charges were over $1000!  I didn't need anything out of the ordinary done, hem, taken in at the bust and hips and if you look up my dress it is very plain.  Does anyone have any advice on what the going rate for alterations would run on a platinum dress?  I was completely blind sided by this.  I didn't think it would cost more than $600!

Thanks everyone for your feedback, I will try posting on a Milwaukee board to see if I can find an independent seamstress.  This is stressful!

OMG!!!  You got the gown with the pleats, that's on my favs list, I'm definitely trying that on this weekend. Did you go to a Pof B store or did you buy from an authorized salon? That may make a difference. I do know they are a bit more costly because they are made to order and all hand sewn. The pleating alone on the back of the dress takes skill.Good luck and let me know how it turns out. I'll add that additional cost to my budget.

Yes the dress is absolutely amazing but I was shocked at how much they gauge you for the alterations.  I bought my dress in Boston at the Priscilla's of Boston store and had it shipped to Chicago since we recently moved to Milwaukee.  I plan on selling my dress after our November 8th wedding.  I am not sure what size you are but if you are interested please let me know.  The dress size I ordered is a size 4.
