Jim Hjelm brides?

Any Jim Hjelm brides out there? There's one I've had my eye on for a while and might get. Just wondering if anyone else has purchased it, or if JH is flexible about making small changes. The one I'm looking at is #8912:http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/images/dresses/9049/src/Jim-Hjelm-A-line-JH8912--Ivory--with-Taupe-Sash--2009-32823.jpghttp://www.jlmcouture.com/Jim-Hjelm/Bridal/Spring/2009/Style-8912Thanks!

Re: Jim Hjelm brides?

  • I'm wearing Jim Hjelm 8715, and the company has been really easy to work with.  My dress came in early, looking perfect.  I had them do a custom hem, and I know they offer changes, like a different neckline or leaving off a sash or flower.  I saw the dress your looking at when I was buying my dress and the detail is really beautiful in person- GL!
  • That gown is very beautiful!!! I almost bought a Jim Hjelm gown, but found that making the changes that I wanted would bring me well over my budget. They wanted $150 for the hallow to hem measure and an extra $300 to extend the train on the gown that I was interested in. In the end, it wasn't worth the extra cost, but those were some pretty major things to change. I'm not sure how flexible they are on making smaller changes. Good luck!!
  • Not to answer for you a2crane, but hollow to hem is where they basically do a custom length so you won't have to hem the dress later.  In most cases, even though they take your measurements when you buy a dress, they just order the size closest to your measurements, they don't actually make it to your size, and then you do alterations (at an additional cost).  So hollow to hem is something extra.  I bought my Jim Hjelm at a trunk show and I saved 10% and they did the hollow to hem for free (which was helpful since my dress has lace at the bottom and would be hard to hem).I don't know if they would do this, but since Jim Hjelm is the same company as Lazaro and Alvina Valenta maybe they would be able to use a flower from one of those lines- I think they both have quite a few dresses with large flowers.Hope this helps!
