Maggie Bride in tatters!

Just ordered the exquisite and glittering Michele by Maggie Sottero.  Along with satin bolero jacket by Maggie of same silk satin from another one of her dresses.  High collar, very chic, very amazing.  Lots of bling on the bustline.  Freaking out BECAUSE -- given that we had to go up a size from the sample (I fully expected this!) -- the bust part/bodice part of the dress will be longer-waisted and fall higher on my buster, shorter on my waist.  Can all this be shortened? So that the bust line falls properly across my chest and not too high or standing away from my body (hate that look) and so that the stunning natural waist line (and not the dropped waist) falls properly too??thanks ladies.  cold feet 'bout the dress (not the groom, thankfully) have set in!

  • When it comes in, take it to a seamstress and ask.

  • Has it already come in?  I have that kind of worry that changing the size from the sample dress, either going smaller or larger, will shorten or elongate the bodice.  The ladies at the shop told me that if there shouldn't be a dramatic change to the length of the bodice. However, if there was any problem, the seamstress can shorten the bodice a little bit.
  • Hi Kjane.  Thanks for your reply.  I'm encouraged to hear that going up a size will not change the length of the bodice much, but if they do have to adjust the bodice -- not inward, but shorten it, do they cut from the top or the middle -- I guess this shouldn't be my problem per se; I just wanna make sure the seamstresses do this kind of thing or the bust of my dress will look terrible.
  • I plan on getting a dress with a bit of rouching at the waist, a lot of tiny ones.  And while it's drop waist, it's supposed to have a natural flow into the skirt, almost like yours.  They said they'd probably let out some of the rouching from the bottom of the bodice to shorten it.But for yours, the pleated part is a bit bigger.  It looks like they can shorten the bodice by moving up some of your rouching.  That way you won't lose any of the pleats. Let me know what they say about it.
  • I have the Michelle too!! I love it!!
  • hi danielleferrara! so you have the michele too? what city are you getting married in? is the bustline natural enough for you? did you have to get the bodice shortened at all? what is it you love about the dress?
