Different Dresses for Bridesmaids

Hi Ladies!I'm considering having all of my bridesmaids choose whichever dress they want (as long as its the same color and length) since everyone has different shapes and I'd rather people be comfortable.Has anyone else ever done this and if so are there any pictures? Thanks!

Re: Different Dresses for Bridesmaids

  • Hello! I was just in one in may where we all had the same skirt but we got to pick our own tops. It was nice to have the choice since people do have different preferences and are comfortable in different styles. I think it's great! You should totally do it! That is my plan as well.
  • I did this for my girls.  No pictures yet since the wedding isn't until November.  I chose a designer and color and let each girl pick whatever dress they liked.  All 4 chose a different dress. I can't wait to see them all together.  Pics on bios of the 4 dresses they chose and the color.

  • I have been to some weddings where they did that and I thought they looked really good together.  I liked it so much that I am doing it, myself.   I think it's pretty common now, so it'll definitely work, as long as you have some kind or uniformity, i.e. the same color and length.  (My MOH even suggested maybe the same designer, to make sure the colors are of the same shade.)

  • I did that. My daughter was my junior bridesmaid so her dress was going to be different anyway (kids size). One wanted a jacket, which I didn't love, but I love her and wanted her to feel comfortable. They were all floor length so we didn't have to do matching shoes, and were all Victorian Lilac. They all ended up choosing dresses with some amount of rouching, so it tied them together too. I just didn't care enough about matching to make them look hideous in something. I have a hard figure to fit and know I wouldn't feel comfortable in many dresses.
  • Thanks girls!  I thought it would be nice too - I've been a bridesmaid 3 times, and there is nothing worse than shelling out a ton of cash for a dress you really don't like or that doesn't flatter you.I realized after I made the post that people wouldn't have pics since we're all planning :)Thanks again!
