NWR: Brilliant minded ladies & Shopaholics

Good morning, I posted this on MA boards as well so sorry if you see it twice but I need some help brainstorming if you'd like to toss some ideas out. I need to do some research and you guys are some of the most creative and brilliant people I’ve come across in a long time. I thought I’d run this by all of you ;) I’ve been home sick since Monday with the flu. My district manager has given me the time off to get better with the stipulation that I return to work with a plan for a Black Friday Sale. We are battling some pretty big competition around the block from us so we’re trying to throw them off by doing our sale on Black Friday and not a Holiday Sale in December. What I’m looking for is a name for this sale that will catch your eye when you see it on paper and stick in your head when you hear it. We want to come off a little classier but fun at the same time. All I can come up with in my sick state right now is Champagne at Midnight or Winter Wonderland. Champagne at Midnight we’d serve “mock” mimosas’ and pass out cocktail style food. Winter Wonderland we would serve warm cookies with shots of milk and maybe some pies. We’re full service and cater to any needs so it needs to be bold and say we’re here, we’re not going anywhere, so shop with us. Our corporate company has given us the store but now it’s in our hands to build and develop it large enough to open Schools in NE with the name of our biggest professional lines. So any ideas welcome!

Can you give us a little more information? What exactly is it you are trying to promote? What does your company offer? Will the sale begin at midnight or will it be early in the morning on Friday? What has been your strategies in the past? WHat has been your competitions strategies in the past?

Yes, could you elaborate a little more? It sounds like a great idea so far, I love the Champagne at Midnight but think a little more info could help us collaborate some more ideas with you :)

Hi, Ok so we sell beauty products to stylists along with furniture to build their salon. We offer education from leading stylists and brands like Redken, TiGi, Pureology etc. The sale will run Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. Store hours are 8:30-6pm. The stores in RI under a different branch of the company does Midnight Madness Sales that arent at midnight. My boss thinks the customers will get the hint its just a play on words but I'm not too sure. Thats why I'm trying to think of anything. We're a new company to NH but an old company at the same time. Its a RI company thats been around for over 40 years but we're opening stores and schools in this area to give the competition a little poke and expand. Corporate hasnt helped us out much in the way of flyers or anything so what I'm doing is I'm trying to get it to play on the radio Fri and Sat in the Boston Market and NH Market. Thats a direct hit to pro-only customers. Then we are going to go out door to door and let the salons know we are now open and have this sale on the way. I hate to telemarket so I think in person with samples is the best road to take. Now that I just overloaded everyone with info let me know if you have any other questions ;)

Could you pair up with a local restaurant??? Offer an exclusive discount, raffles, prizes, gift w/purchase, goodie bags are always incentives too. I worked in retail for years and have found that freebies get them in the door! I'll keep thinking for you

What if you called it the "Savings for the Season" sale. If you wanted to have food you could do little egg nog shooters with christmas cookies and stuff. Put up some white lights....play some Christmas Jazz music or something. It could be really fun. It would be great to give away a gift certificate to the store every 1/2 hour or something like that.

Building off the PP... what about "Style your Season" or "Styled for the Season"... You could do: * a raffle for a basket of products (or more than one basket)... * a free class at the school * a free style from a student *goody bags with samples Also... in terms of entertainment/food... you could do a seasonal theme... i.e. snowballs (powder sugar donuts), hot cocoa, gingerbread cookies, candy canes, chocolate fountain, popcorn etc. I found this... doesn't exactly fit... but still cute: http://tinyurl.com/lc3kp2 HTH
