Trying on veils....without my dress?

I already bought my dress (out of state) but my mom is making my veil for me. I haven't decided on a style yet and so I need to try some on to see what appeals to me. I know the deal about not trying on anymore dresses after you buy but would you try on veils with a very similar style dress to get a feel for what looks good together or just go without the dress? FWIW, I have already called all the bridal stores in my area and none of them carry my dress...they have offered to order it for me but I obviously don't feel right doing this when I know I'm not going to buy it.

Re: Trying on veils....without my dress?

  • I ordered my veil without my dress on hand. I went with something very simple, and i generally knew what i wanted. I would say the most important thing to get right would be the color ( ivory dress, ivory veil..etc...). If you are looking for an  intricate veil with beading or lace i would definitely wait until you can have your dress on hand or at least a very good picture of it to make sure it goes with it.
  • I had the same problem as you. I went in and tried on a dress VERY similar, with the same neck line, and tried on veils to get the idea of what I wanted/what looked good with that type of dress, and on me.I ended up having an etsy designer make the veil cause the one I fell in love with was 900+, but I was able to find out what I wanted by doing it this way.G/L!
